Mar de Ons - D.O. Rías Baixas

Mar de Ons Albariño is produced in our small family winery Aguiuncho in D.O. Rías Baixas.

The winery is situated in the valley de Salnés, in front of the Mar the Ons Islands. In 1999, father Manuel Troncoso Poceiro and son Manuel Troncoso Prieto ( winemaker ) started this project, a dream for both of them. To produce a quality wine without losing the perspective of the traditional winemaking for lots of generations in this family. Today the winery is run by son Manuel with his wife Luz: "Our wines are a true reflection of our culture and our land. Because it is the soil, the climate and the grape together with our know-how what gives the wine its characteristic nuances."

The Rías Baixas region is located directly on the Atlantic Ocean in north west of Spain. The highly variable climate makes viticulture complex and by creating a "roof of leaves" the vines are extra protected on a natural way. The grape's small size with a uniquely thick skin creates intense aromas and exquisite flavour. Albariño has long been recognized as the gold of Galicia because it is one of the most valuable white wines from Spain.

Nice detail: the design of the label was not designed by a modern design agency but is a drawing by the winemaker's son. This "design" combined with the sea blue colour of the bottle creates an expressive look.
