Rezabal - D.O. Getariako Txakolina

D.O. Gerariako Txakolina is located in beautiful Zarautz in the heart of Gipuzkoa, Basque country and it is the smallest D.O. in Spain. All the vineyards together from this upcoming region represent less geographical area than one commercial vineyard, for example in la Rioja. The family winery Rezabal has been producing the pure Basque Txakoli for generations. The artisanal Txakoli wine gets its unique character due to the soil, the microclimate and of course, the human factor.

Soils are rich in minerals including chalk and slate. The vines have a height of up to 1.8 meters which provides insulation and ventilation. Vines are over 50 years old, which makes the production of the Hondarribi Zuri grape very limited. This traditional winery uses the latest technology while preserving and protecting the environment.

This typical Basque sparkling wine has a low alcohol percentage (11%) and is the local wine of the Basque Country. It is a tradition to serve Txakoli in a large and wide glass and drink it before the mousse (tximparta) has disappeared, which is why the pouring of Txakoli is already an experience on its own.
